International FISH Course
Photo by S. Juretschko The Department of Microbial Ecology offers an annual international FISH workshop. The one-week course includes a theoretical and a laboratory section. The course program includes:
• Principles of fluorescence in situ hybridization.
• Application of FISH in microbial ecology
• Confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM)
• Computer-assisted digital image analysis
• Probe design and evaluation
• Advanced FISH techniques (e.g. (Click-)CARD-FISH, (Multicolor) DOPE-FISH, Clone-FISH, FISH-MAR, Raman-FISH, NanoSIMS-FISH)
• Laboratory course: The main focus is practical work with own samples. It is our mission to provide theoretical advice and practical help for FISH [(Click-)CARD-FISH, (Multicolor) DOPE-FISH] with the participants own samples.
International FISH Course 2015
The International FISH Course 2015 will take place February 16-20, 2015, at the Department of Microbiology and Ecosystem Science, University of Vienna.
Participants are encouraged to bring and work on their own sample material.
The course fee for faculty/staff/postdocs/students at non-profi-organizations is € 950,- and for industry attendees € 1900 (includes the official course dinner on Tuesday and coffee/tea during the course but no other meals and accommodation).

The application deadline is November, 6. Notification of acceptance is November, 13.
Due to limited lab space the number of participants is restricted to 12. We ask you for understanding that participants will be selected based on the applications received.
Upon acceptance we will contact you with more detailed information on the course (protocols for sample fixation and transport, directions, etc.).
We kindly ask for your understanding that we can not offer funding/fellowships for the course.
